Your expertise as an epidemiologist is well-noted, Boca. FYI, your last

sentence is barely even directionally correct. We get vaccinated for the flu every year because our immunities from the prior year wear off. They do try and develop the vaccine around particular strains that are expected to circulate the following year, but when there are truly *new* strains the vaccine doesn't work. The cold isn't serious because the cold just isn't very serious (and never has been). Flu can be very serious, even if we've had it a dozen times, and that's why we get vaccinated for it but have never bothered to try and develop a vaccination for the common cold.

What I said is we do not have a lot of useful information on how this thing behaves, let alone how susceptible people who were previously infected may be to reinfection (and how long after). That is absolutely true. This is unlike any other virus we've seen, even other Coronaviruses. The new theory is this thing infects blood vessels and travels around your body until it either passes or finds some kind of weak spot, which is greatly different from even SARS and MERS. But we (and by "we" I mean doctors and scientists, not finance guys and lawyers who think we know more than we do) are still just trying to understand what it does.

One thing we do know is it is several times deadlier and less predictable than the flu or other "serious" viruses. We haven't seen anyone get this thing twice yet, but that's because we just learned about it a few months ago.
